Gionee M6 To Sport A Dedicated Encryption Chip, Exec Reveals

Gionee is a company we’ve talked about quite a few times thus far. Chances are you’re at least somewhat familiar with this China-based company, as they have been around for quite some time now. Gionee had introduced a number of big battery ‘Marathon’ smartphones in the last year or so, and they’re planning to introduce yet another handset soon. The company had already confirmed that they will host an event on July 26th, and judging by the recently surfaced certification info, the Gionee M6 will be announced at said event.

That being said, the Gionee M6 is yet another big battery handset which sports really compelling specs, and chances are it will be quite affordable. We’ll talk about the phone’s specs soon, but let’s first tackle a new piece of info which surfaced in China. If you take a look at the image below this article, you’ll get to see something Gionee’s VP shared via Weibo (Chinese social network). This seems to be a sketch of Gionee M6’s internals, and the company’s VP has confirmed that the phone will ship with hardware encryption basically. The chip that is marked down on the said image, is actually the encryption chip, and it should provide a perfect way to secure your data, it’s like a black box of sorts. Usually, when someone unlocks your device, they have direct access to all your data, well, this chip should be yet another wall of security for your smartphone, though we don’t exactly know how will it function just yet. It will be interesting to hear more about this during Gionee M6’s announcement, so stay tuned for that.

The Gionee M6 will, based on TENAA's info, feature a 5.5-inch fullHD (1920 x 1080) AMOLED display, 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 625 64-bit octa-core SoC will fuel this phone, and a 5,000mAh battery will be included here as well. On the back of the phone you’ll be able to find a 13-megapixel camera, while an 8-megapixel shooter will be located on its front side. Android 6.0 Marshmallow will come pre-installed on the Gionee M6, and on top of it, you’ll get Gionee’s custom UI, as always. The fingerprint scanner will be located on the back of this phone, despite the fact the device will sport a front-facing physical home button (or perhaps just a capacitive touch pad, one of the two). The phone will measure 152.3 x 75.3 x 8.4, while it will weigh 185 grams. Do keep in mind that these specifications are not confirmed just yet, the final spec list might look a bit different than this.

UPDATE: We've just received an anonymous tip (from a reliable source) saying that the phone will be fueled by the Helio P10 SoC, not the Snapdragon 625.
