Facebook's Messenger Now Lets You Request UberPOOL Rides

Of all of the ways you can request an Uber ride, whether it be a standard ride just for yourself, or an UberPOOL which is for you and other individuals, Facebook's Messenger application might have been the last place you expected the functionality to pop up. If this is something in particular you were wishing Facebook would actually add to Messenger, you're in luck, as Messenger has just been granted this capability. Yes, you can now request an UberPOOL ride right from within Messenger, a major boon for anyone who loves using Uber and loves using Messenger as their main form of ride hailing and communication respectively.

Unlike some new features which are going to be added into Messenger through the use of chat bots, booking and sharing an UberPOOL ride is a feature which gets its very own icon down at the bottom of the page along with other functions like giving a thumbs up, adding images and the like. Additionally, Facebook has made it possible to request an UberPOOL ride from the "more" section of the app as well, which some may recognize as the "three dots" on the screen in that bottom bar of actions that you can do within the app. The only thing which users should be aware of, which is also likely obvious, is that UberPOOL bookings have to be done from an open conversation.

Also of note, is that the actual car icon may not show up for everyone in their open conversations, but may still be listed in the "more" menu of options under payments and location, and just above Dropbox, and it will be listed as "request a ride" so it should be impossible to miss if you know where it's at. Messenger users who are anticipating taking advantage of this feature will be able to select one of two options when hitting the request a ride button, and either book an UberPOOL for themselves or for two people. From there, you simply type in your location and your destination as well as payment info, and you're well on your way to getting somewhere, wherever that may be.
