If you are in the market for a new smartphone and one which comes with a big display as well as a big battery than BLU might have just the answer as the company has today introduced and launched their latest handset, the BLU Energy XL smartphone. With an XL moniker attached, it does stand to reason that this would be a smartphone which is large in many respects and that is exactly the case with the BLU Energy XL coming equipped with a 6-inch Super AMOLED display (which makes use of a 1920 x 1080 resolution and a 367 ppi), as well as a 5,000 mAh battery powering the device.
In terms of the rest of the specs, the BLU Energy XL comes equipped with 3GB RAM and is powered by a MediaTek (MT6753) octa-core processor (clocking at 1.3 GHz). Storage comes in the form of 64GB internal storage and there is also the option to expand, thanks to the inclusion of a microSD card slot which supports cards up to 32GB. This is also a smartphone which makes use of USB Type-C connectivity and fingerprint identification with the inclusion of a rear-positioned fingerprint sensor. One which is said to be able to unlock in less than 10ms. While on the camera side of things, the BLU Energy XL sports a 13-megapixel rear camera along with a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. In addition to the 5,000 mAh battery, this is also a smartphone which makes use of fast charging with BLU advising that as much as 43-percent battery can be gained in as little as 30 minutes charging. Although it is worth pointing out that BLU states this is a smartphone which can last up to three days in between charges to begin with. The BLU Energy XL does come running on Android 5.1 (Lollipop) but BLU is confirming that it will receive the update to Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) before the end of 2016.
So while this is a smartphone which looks to be XL in all departments, it is noticeably not XL in its price as the BLU Energy XL is already available to buy as an Amazon exclusive and is priced at only $299.99. It is worth keeping in mind that this is being sold as an unlocked smartphone and is compatible with both AT&T and T-Mobile, as well as other GSM-based networks including Cricket, MetroPCS, Straight Talk, among others. Last but not least, the BLU Energy XL is available in both gold and silver color options.
