BLU Announces $99 4G Studio Touch With Fingerprint Scanner

BLU Products (Bold Like Us) has just officially announced the Studio Touch, a 4G LTE equipped smartphone that comes complete with features like a fingerprint scanner for just $99. BLU is a company who is commonly associated with releasing devices that come with a competitive price tag aimed at the lower end of the pricing scale while still being able to deliver compelling features that would normally be found on higher cost phones. The Studio Touch aims to break some of those barriers by giving consumers the features that they want to make the most out of their device choice without hitting them too hard in the pocket book.

The BLU Studio Touch will come equipped with a 5-inch HD display that carries a brightness rating of 420 nits, making it vivid and easier to see in direct sunlight. The phone is powered by a MediaTek 6735 quad-core processor that is clocked at 1.0 GHz paired with a Mali-T720 GPU for the graphics processing. It also comes 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage, but BLU mentions that there will be a second variant of the phone available in September which comes with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. Both models will support expandable storage up to 64GB with the use of a microSD card.

The Studio Touch will support 4G LTE meaning consumers can expect to have a fast network connection on GSM carriers when within range of LTE coverage, and it also supports Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n as well as Bluetooth 4.0. Android 6.0 Marshmallow will be on board right out of the box, and for those that like taking photos with their smartphone the Studio Touch features an 8MP rear-facing camera with LED flash and a capability for Full HD video recording at 30fps, as well as a 5MP front-facing camera with an 84-degree wide-angle lens and an LED flash. The fingerprint scanner is located on the front of the device in the button below the screen, but there is no mention of NFC inside the phone which means the fingerprint scanner will be for an extra layer of security only as a means to unlock the device. The phone is powered by a non-removable 2,500 mAh battery and it comes in two colors including Slate Grey and White Gold. The 1GB/8GB model goes for $99 and is available now through Amazon, while the 2GB/16GB model that will be available in September will cost just $10 more at $109.99.
