BBK has been all over the news a couple of weeks back. This is a China-based company which basically owns OPPO, Vivo and OnePlus, and that is something many people did not know. That being said, BBK had launched a new company not long ago, a company that is called 'imoo'. A couple of weeks ago, imoo shared a teaser image on their official Weibo (Chinese social network) account regarding their upcoming smartphone. Several other teasers followed, and some info leaked on the side. All in all, this was supposed to be a metal-clad smartphone which will be focused on education. So, were the rumors accurate? Well, let's find out, imoo has just announced their first ever smartphone.
The mysterious smartphone is called 'imoo Get' (M1000 is its model number), and the rumors were more or less accurate. This smartphone is supposed to offer educational content to kids in elementary and high school. The phone has a video catalogue of 120,000 educational clips which you can stream online, and the company says that they have 300 teachers who take care of the educational side of things. Now, this smartphone has a rather odd looking sensor on the back, next to the camera sensor. Rumors were saying that this is some sort of a scanner for mathematics formulas, and it seems like that piece of information was accurate as well. You can scan such formulas or text and get instant answers, which is a nice touch. So, considering the phone comes pre-loaded with so much educational stuff, it must have a skin on it, right? Well, yes, it does, and it's called 'StudyOS'. imoo Get's skin is based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow, so you basically get Google's latest software here (Android 7.0 Nougat hasn't been released yet). Now, this smartphone has the usual power / lock + volume rocker physical button setup on the right, but it also sports a physical key on the left side. This is the so-called 'GET' key, and you can use it to utilize the laser sensor on the back which is used for scanning.
The imoo Get features a 5.5-inch fullHD (1920 x 1080) AMOLED display, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of non-expandable native storage. The phone is fueled by the Helio P10 64-bit octa-core processor by MediaTek, and a 2,930mAh battery is here to juice up the device. The 13-megapixel rear-facing camera is available here, and a 5-megapixel selfie snapper is also included. The phone offers 4G LTE connectivity, of course, and there's a MicroUSB 2.0 port on the bottom of the phone. The device measures 158 x 78 x 7mm, while it weighs 155 grams. The imoo Get is priced at 2,998 Yuan ($450) in China, and the device is available for pre-booking until July 20th. In case you're interested in this phone, you should that it is available in Gold only, no other color variants are available, at least not for now.
