Rogers & Fido Sony Xperia Z3 Now Receiving Marshmallow

The Sony Xperia Z3 on Rogers and Fido are finally receiving their Android 6.0.1 dues after watching Xperia Z3 owners on Bell and Telus enjoying their taste of Marshmallow.  Like all over-the-air (OTA) updates, not everybody is notified at the same time.  If you do not want to wait, just head into Settings, tap on About Phone, System Updates and tap on Check for Updates, and it should download shortly.  Along with the Android 6.0.1 update, you will receive the March security patch.

Owning the Sony Xperia Z3 is nice enough, but with the addition of Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, the Xperia Z3 user will gain quite a few new features to enhance their Android experience.  One of the first new features you will receive is called Google Now on Tap – a sort of Google Now on smart pills.  If you are on a web page that lists certain hotels, just tap the home button, and Google will take you to the individual sites for more details about them.

One of the nicer features which will look to save your battery life is called Doze.  When your phone is ‘resting,’ apps and updates that frequently run in the background are turned off, or put to ‘sleep.’  After you wake the smartphone, everything will turn back on.  Another crucial change has to do with your security.  Advanced app permissions gives the user more control over each app – turning on or off the permissions they seek.  There is also added fingerprint security forcing you to authorize a new fingerprint permission by way of a password, pin, or swipe pattern.  This step will make it harder for some to add his or her fingerprint one your device. Another new Marshmallow feature focuses on backing up and restoring your apps and data - Auto Backup.  There is nothing more frustrating than having the excitement of buying a new Android device diminished by the frustration of transferring your old apps and data to your new smartphone.  Before Marshmallow, it was easier to start from scratch, but now moving or restoring your apps and data should be less stressful. These features, along with the rest of the update should help make you Sony Xperia Z3 faster, smoother, even more battery efficient, and certainly more secure.
