OPPO Teams Up With FC Barcelona For Their Latest OPPO R9 Ad

There are quite a few successful smartphone manufacturing companies based in China, and OPPO is certainly one of those companies. This smartphone manufacturer managed to sell around 50 million of their devices last year, and they’ve kicked off this year with a bang as well. OPPO’s sales are still going strong in China, and the company has released a couple of devices since the beginning of the year. The OPPO R9 and R9 Plus devices are OPPO’s most notable announcements, mainly considering the fact that their predecessors (OPPO R7 and R7 Plus) were the best selling devices of this company last year, they’ve managed to ship out around 15 million R7 and R7 Plus units in 2015.

That being said, OPPO has also announced a special edition of the OPPO R9, the OPPO R9 FC Barcelona Edition, or Oppo F1 Plus FC Barcelona Edition, whichever way you’d like to call it. The OPPO R9 and F1 Plus are identical devices, but OPPO decided to name them differently, their names vary depending on the market. Anyhow, OPPO has unveiled the special (limited) edition model at the end of last month, and the company has already released the first ad for this smartphone. A number of FC Barcelona players are featured in this 1-minute ad, including Messi, Neymar, Mascherano and Rakitić. The ad itself is quite fun and upbeat, it basically shows off OPPO R9’s fast charging capabilities. This device ships with OPPO’s VOOC Flash Charge technology which can charge up this device really fast, and this ad is here to show that off. The ad shows two commentators whose broadcasting equipment dies in the middle of a football (soccer) game, and in order to save the day, Neymar lends them his OPPO R9 device which has been charging only 5 minutes prior to that. The ad wanted to emphasize that OPPO R9 can do wonders after only a 5-minute charge, as you’ve probably already guessed. The ad itself if embedded down below, just in case you’d like to check it out.

The OPPO R9 / F1 Plus FC Barcelona Edition sports the same specs as the original device, but it received an FC Barcelona paint job, and it also comes pre-installed with some FC Barcelona content as well. This smartphone features a 5.5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of native storage. The device is fueled by the Helio P10 64-bit octa-core processor, and Android 5.1 Lollipop comes pre-installed on this device with OPPO’s Color OS 3.0 available on top of Google’s OS.
