Meizu Confirms June 13th Press Event, M2 Metal Coming?

The Meizu M3, M3 Note and PRO 6 smartphones have been announced back in April. The company did not announce anything in the first quarter of the year, and has decided to roll out three new devices in April alone. That being said, Meizu seems to be planning to release some additional hardware this month as well. The Meizu PRO 6 Plus is rumored to arrive on June 30th, and the company just confirmed they’ll host a press conference in mid-June as well, read on.

The company has announced that they’ll host a press event on June 13th in China. So, what can we expect to see at that press event? Well, Meizu said that this is yet another ‘Blue Charm’ press event, which essentially means that we might see new variants of the Meizu M3 and / or Meizu M3 Note devices. The ‘M’ series of devices is called ‘Blue Charm’ in China, which is why we think this is connected. It is possible that Meizu plans to release the Meizu M2 Metal at that conference, that smartphone has been certified by TENAA quite recently, and it seems like a logical thing to do. Aside for the M2 Metal, we don’t know what else might Meizu announce, but it just feels like they intend to launch some additional hardware. Meizu tends to release unexpected smart gadgets from time to time, so it is possible we’ll see something completely new launched on June 13th, we’ll see.

Now, as far as Meizu M2 Metal specs go, it seems like this will be a very well-specced smartphone. According to info provided by TENAA, this handset will sport a 5.5-inch fullHD (1920 x 1080) display, 2GB / 3GB of RAM and 16GB / 32GB of native storage. The device will be fueled by an octa-core SoC, but we still don’t know which chip exactly. The 13-megapixel snapper will be placed on the back of this device, and a 5-megapixel shooter will be available up front. Android 5.1 Lollipop will come pre-installed on the Meizu M2 Metal, and you’ll be able to find Meizu’s Flyme UI on top of it, unless Meizu opts to include YunOS, just like they did on the M1 Metal last year. The device will measure 153.6 x 75.6 x 8.3mm, weight 166 grams and ship with a 4,000mAh non-removable battery.
