Spotify Revamps Family Plan, With 6 Accounts for $14.99

Spotify made some pretty big changes to their family plan today. Before today's announcement, their family plan used to offer two accounts for $14.99, three for $19.99, four for $24.99 and five for $29.99 per month. That is all out of the window now, with Spotify offering up to six accounts for just $14.99. That's a huge change from their old pricing structure. It also puts them right in line with the pricing that Apple uses in Apple Music, along with Google Play Music's pricing. This means that pricing is about $2.50 per account per month. That's a pretty low price for streaming music and all of the other features that Spotify offers in their premium service.

In their blog post announcing the changes, Spotify also took a moment to tout some of the features that users of their Family Plan will receive. This includes separate accounts. So you won't need to share playlists, music, and most importantly, passwords. Everyone also gets a premium subscription. So every account there will get no restrictions on what devices they can play Spotify on, and no ads either. Of course, there's also better pricing, and getting six accounts all on one bill, definitely convenient.

For those of you that aren't invested in a music streaming service yet (invested as in creating your playlists, your likes/dislikes for recommendations, etc), you may want to check out Spotify. They have over 30 million songs available in their catalog. Additionally, Spotify is available on just about every platform. One of the cooler features that their competitors don't have, is the ability to control the stream on one device from another. And quickly switch the device it's streaming from. It may not sound like an important feature, but it is definitely convenient.

Now this new family plan sounds good and all, but for those in Canada, you're out of luck. There's no word on when or if this will be available in Canada. But for now they are the only country without the new plan from Spotify. It's also worth noting that existing customers will be converted over to the new pricing, and this new pricing is available now for new customers.
