Logi, short for Logitech, has been putting out some great products as of late. The company has been moving into the Internet of Things world with their last few products, and the ZeroTouch is another product that sits squarely in that category. Basically the ZeroTouch is a smart car mount for Android. Logi ZeroTouch comes in the form of either an air vent mount or as a dashboard mount. So you can choose which one you want to use in the car. Obviously, they are available at different price points as well.
Logitech has launched a voice-controlled app that works with ZeroTouch and gives the driver a hands-free experience in the car. In fact, it is also glance-free. Allowing you to keep your eyes on the road, and keeping you distraction free. The app automatically starts up when you put your phone in the mount. The app does allow you to do a few things like send and receive texts, make calls, share your location with others using Glympse, Stream music using Spotify and Deezer (other services are not currently supported), and finally, use Google Maps, Navigon or Waze for navigation. It may not be Android Auto, but it is available for a fraction of the price, and appears to be a great alternative.
When it comes to pricing and availability, the Logi ZeroTouch Air Vent and ZeroTouch Dashboard are available today. Logitech is selling them on their website as well as Amazon's for $59.99 and $79.99 respectively (at the time of writing this, Amazon has them available for $39.99 and $69.99 respectively). Not the cheapest mounts out there, but remember you are paying for more than just a car mount here, you are also paying for the app that works exclusively with the ZeroTouch mounts from Logitech.
ZeroTouch appears to be a good first step for Logitech, although there are many things that are missing here. Luckily, they can be added with a software update to the app. Which will make it much easier to get additional features. The main one is supporting more music apps. While Deezer and Spotify are pretty popular, so are Google Play Music, Apple Music, Tidal and many others. Logi also needs to add the ability for users to receive calls, instead of only being able to make calls. But we'll likely see this added in an app update soon.
