Jeff Koons Designed Live Cases for Nexus 6P, 5X Now Available

On Monday, it was announced that Google was working with artist, Jeff Koons, to create some 'limited edition' Live Cases that will be available for the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P. Let's back up a second here and explain what Live Cases are. Last month, Google announced Live Cases, they are basically customizable cases. You can choose to have a picture on them, or an area on a map. On top of that, there is a button on the back - sort of like a NFC tag - that can be programmed to do all sorts of things. Now Google is taking these Live Cases a step further and working with artist Jeff Koons to make some limited edition Live Cases.

These Live Cases that Google has worked on with Jeff Koons, will only be available for a limited time, according to Google. Although there's no word on how long that window is actually open. Google says that Koons is "one of the world's greatest living artists" and that he is famous for his "Gazing Ball" series, that is also available for the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P the Live Cases do also come with a live wallpaper. There are also some other exclusive digital artwork that Google and Koons have cooked up with these Live Cases. Google does mention, that these digital artwork pieces will be sent directly to your phone. So you may get some new artwork every so often from this Live Cases purchase. A pretty neat thing to throw in, especially with a $40 case.

There are three cases, all three are available for both the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P, and are $40 each. They are named "Diana", "Mailbox" and "Bust". You can check them out on the Google Store now. Similar to the other Live Cases, these do also feature the NFC button on the back. Which can be programmed to do all sorts of things.

If you're not a fan of Jeff Koons and would rather design your own Live Case, you can still do that over on the Google Store as well. The Live Cases are normally $35, and do also work with the Nexus 6 (while the Jeff Koons ones only work with the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P).
