LG has introduced quite a few smartphones in the last year or so, and the LG V10 and LG G5 are quite probably the most notable ones. The LG V10 was introduced in October last year, and it featured a rather nice, sturdy design, and a separate 'ticker' display above the main panel. The LG G5 is LG's all-new semi-modular flagship which was introduced during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona back in February. Both of these smartphones sport high-end specifications, even though the LG G5 is a more powerful out of the two. Both devices sport 4GB of RAM, metal build (at least partial) and QHD displays. The LG V10 is fueled by the Snapdragon 808 SoC, while the LG G5 comes with the Snapdragon 820 processor, Qualcomm's flagship SoC. That being said LG has some news to share with us regarding both of these smartphones, read on.
The company has announced that both the LG V10 and G5 have now been certified for enterprise and military use by the U.S. National Information Assurance Partnership. NIAP uses the globally recognized Common Criteria Evaluation and Validation Scheme (CCEVS) in order to evaluate security conformance with the Common Criteria International standard. Now, NIAP certification is recognized by 25 Common Criteria member countries which include Germany, France, Japan, UK, South Korea, and many more. LG also wanted to point out that the LG V10 and G5 are equipped with LG's GATE (Guarded Access to Enterprise) technology for enhanced network, platform and application security. Now, in theory, such tech should allow your to reliably access enterprise data. LG's GATE technology was developed way back in 2013 in order to provide a number of security solutions, and the company has been developing it since. This technology helps maintain the integrity of software components, or in other words is here to protect software on LG's devices.
LG has also said that both of the aforementioned devices sport Google's Android for Work, which takes advantage of the LG GATE network capabilities. "With the growing importance of higher security in business these days, we believe a firm security platform is a must for mobile workplace devices. This certification is confirmation that LG smartphones are among the most secure mobile devices available today," said Chris Yie, Vice President and Head of Marketing Communications for LG Mobile Communications Company.
