Google+ version 7.8 is currently rolling out to everyone right now via the Play Store, and it's a pretty small update. There are a few interface changes, which include quicker access to other Google services that used to be bundled in Google+ like Hangouts and Photos. One of the changes, which is pretty small, is the "New Posts" toast notification at the bottom of the screen. In a recent update, they changed the color of that notification to red with white text. To match the rest of the color scheme in Google+. Well in this new update, they have reverted back to the gray background. In addition to that, they have also moved it from the top back to the bottom of the display.
If you thought that the side menu in the Google+ app looked to be a bit lacking, it looks like the developers agreed. As they have now added a few shortcuts to other Google services there. We now have shortcuts to Google Photos, Hangouts and Google Search there. Maybe not the most exciting change to come in an app update, but it'll definitely come in handy. Chances are if you use Google+, then you likely use these other Google services as well. Given that these are the company's most used services. According to reports, this actually may be a server-side change and not part of the actual update. Although users that are seeing it, appear to be those running v7.8 of Google+.
Not a huge update at all for Google+, but definitely making some nice changes to the app. Since Google+ unveiled their new redesign last year, they have steadily been pushing out updates to both the Android and web versions of the service to improve the user experience and make it better overall. This may not be one of those updates that you want to rush out and download or sideload. But we do have the APK available for those that may want to sideload it onto their device. You'll need to enable "Unknown Sources" which is located in Settings > Security, and then just open up the APK and allow it to replace your current installation of Google+.
