Gionee is a China-based company some of you have probably heard of by now. This company has introduced quite a few devices in the last year or so, and their 'Marathon' devices are quite popular in China. The latter device was introduced at the very end of last year in China, and the phone is now making way to the Indian smartphone market as well, read on.
The company has decided to introduce this handset in India as well, almost half a year after it was originally announced in China. The Gionee Marathon M5 Plus is a mid-range phablet with a huge battery on the inside. The device sports a 6-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) AMOLED display, 3GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable internal storage. MediaTek's MT6753 64-bit octa-core processor fuels this handset, along with the Mali-T720MP3 GPU. The 13-megapixel snapper is placed on the back of the device, and a 5-megapixel shooter can be found up front. Android 5.1 Lollipop comes pre-installed on this handset, along with Gionee's Amigo 3.1 UI. The 5,020mAh battery is included here as well, and should provide more than enough battery life to get you through the day, and more. Fast charging is also a part of this package, and you do get two SIM card slots here, as well as 4G LTE connectivity. The phone measures 160.9 x 81.2 x 8.4mm, while it weighs 208 grams.
"We are thrilled to bring the M5 Plus to India. The device is a perfect reflection of a beautifully crafted powerhouse. Our motto with the Marathon series remains the same with each device to make people's life stress-free with no battery issues bothering them. We at Gionee believe that smartphone are needed to take down your burdens not add on it, hence, we design our devices as per the utmost needs of our consumers," said Arvind R Vohra, CEO of Gionee India. This phablet is already available for purchase in India, and it is priced at Rs. 26,999 ($402). The Gionee M5 Plus is a mid-range phablet, and if you're in a market for a big device with a huge battery on the inside, your options are quite limited, especially if you want to purchase a device in India (without importing), which makes the Marathon M5 Plus a viable option.
