The ASUS ZenWatch 2 is the latest smartwatch from ASUS, although it is quite old by now. Luckily, smartwatch specs haven't progressed that much in the last few years. Smartwatches coming out today have the same processor, RAM and display as those that launched in 2014 and 2015. The ASUS ZenWatch 2 was unveiled last fall, and it's one of the only square smartwatches around. While it is a square, it still looks quite nice. ASUS offers the ZenWatch 2 in two different sizes. One has a 1.45-inch display (measured diagonally) and then a 1.63-inch display. They also offer different watch colors and straps. Of course the strap can be replaced with one you like better. It does use any 22mm watch strap.
While it's currently unknown which Android Wear smartwatches will be getting the big Android Wear 2.0 update later this fall, it's a safe bet that the ASUS ZenWatch 2 will be getting the update. As we mentioned already, it does have the same hardware as the newer smartwatches. Android Wear is compatible with Android and iOS, so you are able to use this with either platform. Of course, you'll have a better experience with Android over iOS, mostly due to how baked in Google is with Android.
