ASUS' next smartphone in their ZenFone lineup, the ZenFone 3, was expected to make an appearance at both CES and Mobile World Congress this year, but rumors and expectations turned into hopes and dreams that weren't met pretty quick, which makes sense given that ASUS never had plans to unveil the phone at either of those events in the first place. Since that time, there have been leaked specs of the ZenFone 3 that have surfaced on the web, as well as unofficial ZenFone 3 renders that show off the potential design. The ZenFone 3 may be getting an announcement soon, as ASUS has just announced an event for the end of this month on May 30th, complete with a live countdown page that invites consumers to "witness the Zenvolution" on that particular date.

ASUS' play on the word evolution should be the dead giveaway here even if this is not a confirmation that they will be announcing the ZenFone 3. Of course, it's entirely possible that ASUS could announce some other type of device as the Zen moniker is the series name for many of their products. There are just over twenty-three days left until May 30th which is the day before the first day of Computex 2016 and is where ASUS will hold their event, which happens in Taipei, Taiwan.

The event takes place at 2PM local time in Taipei which is 2PM CST, and they will have live stream coverage available for people to watch the announcements if they aren't able to attend. Nothing is officially known about the ZenFone 3 at this point, but rumors and speculation suggest that the device will come with a 5.5-inch display attached to it. There is also rumored to be a ZenFone 3 Deluxe that comes with a slightly larger 5.9-inch display as well. The device is also rumored to have a fingerprint sensor on the front, come encased in a metal body design, carry USB Type-C and use 2.5D glass on top of the display. While there is no detail on pricing just yet, the ASUS ZenFone 2 was very competitively priced, so it's highly likely that ASUS will follow the same trend this year and make the ZenFone 3 a fairly affordable smartphone compared to other flagship devices that are currently on the market
