ASUS C301 Chromebook Coming Soon & Priced At $279

For those keeping track of ASUS, the company is set to host an event next Monday at Computex 2016 and it is largely believed they will be introducing their next generation ZenFone, the ASUS ZenFone 3. It is also likely that the ZenFone 3 will only be one of a number of products that ASUS unveils at the event. ASUS is already known as a company who has invested in a number of Chromebook options and now just ahead of that event a new ASUS Chromebook has suddenly popped up on the ASUS store. Whether this will be announced next week remains to be seen, although the timing would seem to suggest it is a possibility. Either way, the store listing does make it clear what will be on offer with the ASUS C301 Chromebook.

In terms of the specs, the ASUS C301 Chromebook comes equipped with a 13.3-inch display which makes use of a 1920 x 1080 resolution. Inside, the ASUS C301 Chromebook comes loaded with 4GB RAM, 16GB internal storage and comes powered by an Intel Celeron (N3160) Quad-core processor, which is apparently clocked at 2Ghz (Turbo up to 2.24 Ghz). Most of the rest of what is on offer is fairly standard now for a Chromebook, with the page listing detailing 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.2 are on offer. As well as a HDMI port, two USB 3.0 ports, and an SD card slot for expanding the storage when needed. In terms of its physical dimensions, the ASUS C301 Chromebook is listed as measuring 32.9 cm in width, 23 cm in depth and 2.03 ~2.2 cm in height, while weighing in at 2.98 lbs.

In spite of the ASUS C301 Chromebook not actually being announced yet, the page listing does make it clear that this will be a Chromebook which is priced at $279. Which seems to be generally on point for the specs, design and features on offer. However, the listing does not provide any details on when it will become available and currently simply states the ASUS C301 Chromebook as "coming soon." Although as mentioned, with the upcoming ASUS event due to take place, more details on when this latest ASUS Chromebook addition will become available might come through next week.
