Samsung has already introduced quite a few smartphones this year, including the company's Galaxy S7 flagships. That being said, the company has also introduced some lower-end devices this year, including the Galaxy J5 (2016) and Galaxy J7 (2016) mid-range handsets which were introduced in China back in March. The support pages for these two handsets have surfaced in India a while back, which indicated that they will be announced in the country soon. Well, that has just happened, let's see what they have to offer.
The second-gen Galaxy J5 and J7 which were introduced in India sport almost identical specifications as the two devices announced in China two months ago. The Galaxy J5 is the more affordable one, this smartphone features a 5.2-inch 720p (1280 x 720) AMOLED display, along with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable internal storage. The device is fueled by the Snapdragon 410 64-bit quad-core processor, along with the Adreno 306 GPU for graphics. The 13-megapixel snapper can be found on the back of the Galaxy J5, and the 5-megapixel camera is located up front. The 3,100mAh battery is also a part of this package, and the Galaxy J5 also sports two SIM card slots on the inside. Android 6.0 Marshmallow comes pre-installed on this smartphone, and on top of it, you'll find Samsung's custom UI. The phone measures 145.8 x 72.3 x 8.1mm, while it weighs 159 grams.
The Galaxy J7, on the other hand, sports a 5.5-inch 720p (1280 x 720) Super AMOLED panel, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable native storage. This smartphone is fueled by the Exynos 7870 64-bit octa-core SoC running at 1.6GHz, and also offers two SIM card slots. The 3,300mAh battery is included here, and a 13-megapixel snapper is placed on the back of the Galaxy J7. The 5-megapixel camera is located on the front side of this smartphone, and Android 6.0 Marshmallow comes pre-installed here with TouchWiz on top of it, same as the Galaxy J5. The Galaxy J7 measures 151.7 x 76 x 7.8mm, while it weighs 170 grams. Both of these smartphones come with 4G LTE support, of course.
The two devices come in Gold, Black and White color options, and are priced at Rs. 13,990 ($211) and Rs. 15,990 ($241) in India, respectively. The Galaxy J5 and Galaxy J7 will be available for purchase exclusively through Flipkart starting today at midnight, and both of them come with double data offer from Airtel which is good for 6 months, in case you're interested.
