Huawei is the third-largest smartphone manufacturer in the world. This China-based company has managed to sell 108 million smartphones last year, and is looking to improve upon that in 2016. Huawei has introduced their all-new flagship devices quite recently, the Huawei P9 and P9 Plus. These two handsets sport high-end specifications, are made out of metal, and also feature Leica’s dual camera setup on the back. We’ve talked about these two handsets quite a few times thus far, but new info just keeps on popping up.
It was just a matter of time before the first Huawei P9 teardown surfaces, and that just happened. The China-based tech site, IT168, has shared their Huawei P9 teardown. The managed to get their hands on the higher-end Huawei P9, and decided to show us the insides of this smartphone. There are quite a few teardown images in the gallery down below, which will show you more or less every piece of this smartphone. The Huawei P9 is an all-metal handset, though it seems like IT168 didn’t encounter any significant issues while dismantling this phone. This site, unlike iFixit, doesn’t exactly have a repairability score, we’ll need to wait for iFixit to get ahold of the Huawei P9 in order to see what they have to say on the matter.
The Huawei P9 features a 5.2-inch fullHD (1920 x 1080) display, along with 3GB / 4GB of RAM and 32GB / 64GB of internal storage. The 4GB of RAM (+64GB of native storage) variant was dismantled by IT168, but these two models are basically identical aside from the difference in RAM and storage count. The device is fueled by the company’s Kirin 955 64-bit octa-core SoC, and a 3,000mAh battery is also a part of this package, and it is not removable. Two 12-megapixel shooters (Leica optics) are available on the back of the Huawei P9, and Android 6.0 Marshmallow comes pre-installed on the Huawei P9, along with Huawei’s Emotion UI (EMUI) 4.1 user interface. The 8-megapixel camera can be found on the front side of this smartphone, and a Type-C USB port is placed on the bottom of the phone. The Huawei P9 measures 145 x 70.9 x 7mm, while it weighs 144 grams.
