For those wanting to buy a premium Motorola smartphone, this may be as good a time as any to do so, as the Lenovo-owned company is offering a nice deal on two of its current handsets – the Moto X Pure Edition (which is also known as the Moto X Style globally) and the shatterproof Droid Turbo 2 (also known as the Moto X Force in most international markets). As part of the special promo, Motorola is offering a first-generation Moto 360 smartwatch for free with every purchase of either of the two handsets mentioned above, although only the 64 GB models apparently qualify for the discount and not the less expensive versions. What that means in essence is that willing buyers will have to shell out either $499 for the Moto X Pure or $720 for the Moto Droid Turbo 2. The Moto 360 (2014), meanwhile, comes with a $199.99 price-tag by itself.
One thing that needs to be mentioned here is that the offer is valid only in the U.S. and not in any other region. As for the deal, it’s apparently available only on Motorola’s U.S. website and not at third-party retailers - online or otherwise. The way to obtain the freebie is to add the smartphone of choice to the shopping cart along with the Moto 360 (2014) smartwatch, at which point, the $199.99 discount will show up. The company is also offering a number of other promotional offers, including a discount of up to $140 on the 2nd-gen Moto X. One important thing to note here, is that the offers will only be applicable till 10:59 A.M. CT on April 1st, so interested parties should act fast.
Motorola is expected to launch its third-gen Android Wear smartwatch at some stage during this year, so the company is probably just looking to clear out inventories before that happens. While the first-gen Moto 360 is getting a bit long in the tooth, the device is still a pretty decent one by all accounts, especially when you get it for the low, low price of free. As for the two smartphones, the Droid Turbo 2 remains Motorola’s premium offering from last year, while the Moto X Pure is the company’s premium mid-ranger that was launched alongside the Moto X Play last July.
