UMi Touch X Is A $150 Smartphone With No Bezel On The Sides

UMi is one of many China-based companies, though it is not as popular as some of the heavyweights in the industry. UMi has released quite a few products in the last year or so, and we've actually reviewed a number of those. UMi Iron was certainly a really well-designed handset, and it turns out its performance was definitely up to par with some of the more expensive phones. Well, UMi Iron has been released a while back, and UMi has pushed out a number of devices since then. The company has introduced the UMi Touch quite recently, and a similarly specced UMi Touch X will be officially announced soon, read on.

The UMi Touch X is yet another upcoming UMi-branded handset. Our source at the company actually provided a render of this handset, along with its specs. Now, if you take a look at the provided image, you'll get to see that UMi Touch X sports no bezel on the sides, this is yet another 'bezel-less' handset out there. Due to the fact there are no visible bezels on the sides, the device looks quite sleek, and the metal frame definitely helps with that. The physical home button is placed below the display, and it actually doubles as a fingerprint scanner. This smartphone will feature a 5.5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display, along with 3GB of RAM. The phone will pack in a 4,000mAh non-removable battery, and an octa-core SoC will fuel the phone, though we still don't know which chip exactly. Judging by UMi's previous devices, however, chances are this will be one of MediaTek's chips, most probably the MT6753 or Heli P10, we'll see.

The UMi Touch X will cost $149.99, and it will be launched on March 20th according to our info. This is definitely not the first 'bezel-less' handset on the market, ZTE's Nubia Z9 and Elephone's P9000 Edge handsets are only some examples of devices with no side bezels, while Samsung's Galaxy Edge devices are also worth mentioning, even though their sides are curved. Now, the Nubia Z9 and Samsung's offerings are considerably more expensive than the UMi Touch X, and the P9000 Edge is still not available out in the market, and we don't know when will it become available. So, the UMi Touch X might actually be a viable option for a number of people.
