Current and last gen consoles and games have come quite a long way in many different regards, but one of the most innovative might just be the way that game developers are making it possible to integrate certain features of the game into smartphone apps so gamers can enhance their gameplay in a number of different ways. There are various companion apps which have made their way to the Play Store, mostly for games which have come out during current gen console releases, like Far Cry 4, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, or Fallout 4 with Bethesda’s Pip-Boy app. Driveclub, an early release racing title from Sony which came out more than a year ago had a companion app available initially, but Sony pulled it to help reduce strain on game servers.

As of today, Sony has relaunched the Driveclub companion app onto the Play Store for those who play the game and are wishing to make the most out of their gameplay experience. The app will have quite a few features available and will certainly allow for more interaction with the game on PS4, but it will not allow you to play the game in any capacity like you would on the console as it is meant more for adding additional functionality to the actual game itself.

As for what you can do with it if you choose to install the app, you can link up your profile from Driveclub so you can see various different stats like how many people have challenged your lap times, furthermore you can also check any of the challenges you’ve created at any point to see if people have beaten them. You can also use the app to pick up new challenges that you can attempt to complete once in game, and you can earn extra fame points which will stack with any of the fame points you earn while playing Driveclub on the PS4. In addition to the app simply being available for use again, it’s also gotten a new coat of paint as Sony has redesigned the user interface to feature material design so it looks more polished than before. If you play Driveclub and have been wanting the companion app to reappear, now is your chance to pick it back up.
