Samsung's Galaxy Tab A 7 & Tab E Lite Arrive In Canada

Samsung has made it official – the Galaxy Tab A 7 and Galaxy Tab E Lite tablets are available across Canada.  The tablet consumer market as a whole has been suffering from low sales – many thought the tablet would replace the laptop, which has already replaced the PC.  Many tablet makers are targeting the high-end business market – drafting and medicine – and are targeting the low-end school or children’s market to use as a learning tool.  The latter is what the Galaxy Tab A 7 and Galaxy Tab E Lite are going after and even notes that they offer “child-friendly interfaces, endless entertainment options and multi-tasking functionality.”

The 'higher end' Galaxy Tab A 7 sports a 7-inch TFT WXGA display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels.  The design has curved or rounded edges all around for a modern look and on the back is a “special rhythmical pattern” that offers a “soft, comfortable and secure grip.” It is only 8.7 mm thick and weighs in at a light 283 grams, making it easy to take anywhere.  It is running Android 5.1 Lollipop and powered by a quad-core processor clocked at 1.3 GHz with 1.5GB of RAM and 8GB of memory with 4.3GB available for actual storage.  There is a microSD card slot to expand storage up to 200GB.  It has a main camera with 5MP with autofocus, but no flash.  The front-facing camera (FFC) has 2MP for selfies and video chatting.  It packs WiFi, Bluetooth v4.01 and GPS and comes with a large 4,000 mAh non-removable battery.  Using Kids Mode 4.0 will keep your kids entertained wider drawing areas and enhanced sound effects as well as lock apps and set user times. It measures 186.9 x 108.8 x 8.7 mm, comes in Black or White and will cost $199.99.

The cheaper Galaxy Tab E Lite features a 7-inch TFT WSVGA display with a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels.  It features a quad-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz and packs 1GB of RAM and 8GB of expandable – up to 32GB – storage.  Of the original storage, 5.1GB is available for use.  The main camera is a simple 2MP affair with no autofocusing and no flash. It sports WiFi, Bluetooth v4.0, GPS and a 3,600 mAh non-removable battery.  The Galaxy Tab E Lite measures 193.4 x 116.4 x 9.7 mm, weighs in at 310 grams, comes only in White and costs $149.99.
