Oppo is a China-based company which is rather popular in Asia. This company has managed to sell a whopping 50 million smartphones last year, at least according to the company's numbers. This number managed to surprise us, but Oppo has been around for quite some time now, and they are quite popular in Asia, especially China. That being said, the company has introduced next-gen VOOC charging tech which can charge up a 2,500mAh battery in just 15 minutes. This is definitely one of the fastest charging technologies out in the market at the moment, if not the fastest.
Anyhow, Oppo has introduced quite a few smartphones last year, including the Oppo R7 and R7 Plus devices. Interesting enough, this seems to be one of Oppo's most popular smartphones, the company has managed to sell 15 million of those units in 2015. We were wondering when will Oppo release the Oppo R9, and the company has recently revealed that the launch event will take place on March 17th. Oppo has revealed this through a teaser image you can see down below, which also confirms that the device will be named Oppo R9. The second image in the gallery down below also comes directly from the company, and as you can see, the Oppo R9 will be made out of metal, and it will be very thin. This image isn't all that revealing, but you do get to see the device's thickness, build materials and even some buttons on the side. That's not all, however, the third image in the gallery isn't exactly official, but it does show off the alleged Oppo R9 and R9 Plus handsets. As you can see, these two devices sport a physical home button below the display, and they really do resemble the Meizu PRO 5 which was introduced last year.
Now, as far as specs go, the third image down below actually reveals some details in that department as well. These two phones will sport VOOC fast charging tech, which was to be expected, and Andriod 6.0 Marshmallow with Oppo's Color OS on top of it is also expected here. The two devices will sport 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, and the Oppo R9 Plus will be somewhat larger than its sibling. The Oppo R9 is said to sport a 5.5-inch fullHD display, and a 16-megapixel rear-facing camera, while the Oppo R9 will ship with a 6-inch fullHD panel, at least according to rumors. The smaller Oppo R9 handset is expected to sport a 2,850mAh battery, while Oppo's upcoming phablet will pack in a 4,120mAh unit on the inside.
