Neato Botvac Connected Update Adds Android Wear Support

Home automation is all the rage nowadays, from smart lights that can change color and be remotely controlled from your smartphone, all the way to robotic vacuums that clean your house for you.  Each of these product ranges has a highly competitive nature, as we've come to expect from smartphones, and as such we see manufacturers constantly adding new features to make their products more valuable and easier to use.  One such company, Neato, released its first connected vacuum this past fall for $699 that features Android connectivity and can be controlled remotely no matter where you are.

Keeping in line with that line of thought is the latest update, available right now on the Google Play Store via the Neato Botvac Connected app, which allows owners of the Neato Botvac Connected to control their vacuums straight from their Android Wear powered smartwatches.  This app is a companion app that goes along with the regular Neato Botvac Connected app, so you won't need to download a separate one to get the functionality, simply just grab that March 1st update from the Play Store and it'll be automatically transferred to your watch.  As we've seen from tons of other smartwatch apps it's incredibly convenient to perform quick tasks like this from your wrist, especially if your hands are full or you can't reach your smartphone.  Having a simpler interface keeps things quick too, and what better way to start up your robotic vacuum than this, right?

This functionality makes Neato the first player on the market to add smartwatch connectivity to their robotic vacuum, which now gives users start, stop and notification functionality right from their wrists.  Other more advanced features like manual vacuum control, scheduling and more will still be available via the smartphone app only, which is probably wise given the small nature of smartphone screens.  While the press shots for the app are on the Apple Watch rest assured that the app is available in all its functional glory on Android Wear, in a considerably better looking package too thanks to all the different choices available to Android owners.  We've got our own Neato Botvac Connected in-house and will be delivering our verdict to possible future owners soon, but for those of you out there that already own one be sure to grab that update today!
