Xiaomi Mi 5 was introduced during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona last month. The Mi 5 is Xiaomi’s long-awaited flagship handset, and judging by the initial reports, the device is in high-demand. The Mi 5 is currently only available in China through flash sales, and over 16 million people registered for the first flash sale of this phone which occurred a while back, which is truly impressive. That being said, Xiaomi has announced that the Mi 5 will come to India in April, and we have just stumbled upon some more info, read on.
India is, next to China, Xiaomi’s most important market. Xiaomi isn’t exactly selling their devices in all that many markets outside of China, and it is completely normal their biggest focus is on the two largest markets in the world, China and India. Anyhow, the Mi 5 will be arriving in India soon, and the company’s co-founder and president, Lin Bin, has revealed the Mi 5’s price range for the Indian smartphone market. In an interview with Economic Times, Xiaomi’s CEO said that the Mi 5 will be priced somewhere between Rs. 20,000 and Rs. 27,000 at launch. He did not, however, elaborate on which Xiaomi Mi 5 model is he talking about. As you probably already know, Xiaomi actually released three different Mi 5 variants, two of them sport 3GB of RAM, but differ in internal storage count (32GB and 64GB). The Mi 5 Pro is the highest-end Mi 5 variants, and that phone comes with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of native storage. It is possible Lin Bin was referring to both 32GB and 64GB models of the Mi 5, and if that’s the case, the Mi 5 might be extremely competitive in India, but we’ll see.
The Xiaomi Mi 5 features a 5.15-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display, along with 3GB / 4GB of RAM, and 32GB / 64GB / 128GB of internal storage. The device is fueled by the Snapdragon 820 64-bit quad-core SoC, along with an Adreno 530 GPU for graphics. The 16-megapixel 4-axis OIS snapper is placed on the back of the device, and a 4-megapixel (2um pixel size) shooter is available up front. The non-removable 3,000mAh battery is also a part of this package, and Android 6.0 Marshmallow comes pre-installed on the Mi 5 with Xiaomi’s MIUI 7 OS available on top of it.
