Lenovo To Launch Vibe K5 & K5 Plus In India On March 15th


Lenovo has officially announced that it will launch the Vibe K5 and Vibe K5 Plus smartphones in India on the 15th of this month. The company on Tuesday, reportedly sent out invites to the press for the launch event scheduled to be held on the aforementioned date. Both devices were launched at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) last month in Barcelona, Spain. The company is yet to reveal the pricing of either handset in the country, but the pricing announced during MWC was $129 for the Vibe K5 and $149 for the Vibe K5 Plus, so they are expected to be launched in the country at about the same price range. The Chinese multinational tech company has been on a product launching spree of late, having launched the Vibe K4 Note, the Vibe X3 and the A7000 Turbo in the last few months as well as new Android tablets.

Taking a quick look at the two handsets that are slated to hit the Indian market, the Vibe K5 sports entry-level specifications, while the Vibe K5 Plus comes with slightly more powerful hardware. As for the Vibe K5, it features a 5-inch 720p display and is powered by a Snapdragon 415 chipset, which comes with an octa-core processor clocked at 1.4 GHz and an Adreno 405 GPU. The device carries 2 GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage and a 2,750 mAh battery. The smartphone runs Android 5.1 Lollipop out the box and has a 13-megapixel camera on the back and a 5-megapixel camera on the front. There device comes with LTE connectivity, whilst also supporting Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1 and microUSB 2.0.


As for the slightly better spec'd Vibe K5 Plus, the device also comes with a 5-inch screen, but with a higher, 1080p resolution. As for the SoC, there's a Snapdragon 616 chipset under the hood, which comes with an octa-core Cortex-A53 processor clocked at a maximum of 1.5 GHz along with the same Adreno 405 GPU. The rest of the specs are pretty much identical to that of the Vibe K5, including the battery, which continues to remain a 2,750 mAh unit in spite of the higher resolution screen and more powerful processor. The devices are said to come in three colors – Platinum Silver, Champagne Gold and Graphite Grey.
