Jason Statham's First LG G5 Ad Is Here, And It's Weird

The LG G5 has been announced last month in Barcelona, and the device has become available for purchase in South Korea earlier today. The LG G5 will be available for purchase in the US starting tomorrow (April 1st), and other markets will follow by the end of April. That being said, LG has recently announced that they’ve hired a well-known action film actor, Jason Statham, to star in their LG G5 ads. Well, the first ad is out, and it’s...well, read on.

If you take a look at the embedded video down below, you’ll be able to see Jason Statham’s first ad for LG. Keep in mind this is a Korean advertisement, and it is in Korean, even though you’ll notice that at the very end of it. Now, as far as the ad itself goes, it’s rather odd. Jason Statham embodies various characters in this video, he’s a street dancer, an action star, and eve wears a blond wig in one of the scenes. As if that wasn’t enough, Statham actually rides bulls, and a motorcycle for that matter, which makes this ad rather strange. It’s kind of difficult to explain, you really need to check it out yourself in order to fully understand it. Now, I don’t know if you remember Robert Downey Jr.’s advertisements for HTC, but LG’s first ad definitely reminded me of HTC’s work. Now, Robert Downey Jr.’s work for HTC was super weird in a different way, but it is still worth mentioning. Now, the LG G5 will launch in the US tomorrow, and the company will almost certainly release a new ad for that occasion, or perhaps they opt to release this very same one, but in English, we’ll see.

The LG G5 is actually the semi-modular device, considering it’s bottom ‘chin’ is removable. Once you remove the ‘chin’, you’ll get access to the device’s battery, and you can actually insert various different modules instead. LG has released a number of LG G5 modules, or as the company calls them, ‘LG Friends’, and they cost around $100 a pop, at least in Korea. The LG G5 sports a 5.3-inch display, packs in 4GB of RAM and it is fueled by the Snapdragon 820 64-bit quad-core SoC. If you’d like to know more, visit our LG G5 page.
