Today, Apple took the wraps off of a brand new iPad, this time it's a 9.7-inch version. Which is the size that started it all for the Cupertino company. It's not the iPad Air 3 either, it's the iPad Pro, just it's available in a 9.7-inch size now in addition to the 12.9-inch form factor. The iPad Pro is actually a pretty big upgrade over the iPad Air 2 which was over a year old now. Aside from the name, the iPad Pro also got an upgrade in the display. While it is still a 2048x1536 resolution display, Apple says that it is 40% less reflective, this is great for using the new iPad Pro out in the sun. It's also said to be 25% brighter and more saturated. Giving it a much better picture - think of the AMOLED displays that Samsung uses. We're looking at the Apple A9X chip in the iPad Pro as well, the same as the original iPad Pro. Battery life is still rated at 10 hours, which is pretty incredible for a tablet these days.
Don't get us wrong, we are an Android website, and love all things Android. However it is always great to see what the competition is working on. And in this sense, that is Apple. So we've made a quick comparison chart comparing the new Apple iPad Pro 9.7 to the top Android tablets that are currently available. This includes the Google Pixel C, Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 and the Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet. None of these tablets are cheap, like Amazon's, but they all are pretty similar spec-wise. Especially with the Galaxy Tab S2 and the iPad Pro featuring the same 2048x1536 resolution - which is due to them both having a 4:3 aspect ratio. The Galaxy Tab S2 and the iPad Pro are also the only ones available or heading to carriers. Which can be a pretty good feature, having 4G LTE connectivity can definitely come in handy.
You can check out our table down below, comparing the 5 tablets to each other. There's no right answer when it comes to which tablet is the best. As these are all made for different users. You have the iPad Pro for those that are invested in Apple's ecosystem. The same can be said for Samsung's Galaxy Tab S2, but it does have a fantastic display for watching content. Additionally the Pixel C is great for getting work done, as is the Xperia Z4 Tablet, with their respective tablets. Although none of them have a pencil without an eraser, unlike the iPad Pro.
