Xiaomi Mi 5 rumors, leaks and official confirmations have been surfacing quite frequently over the last couple of months. The company has confirmed that the device will be announced today both in Beijing and Barcelona during the Mobile World Congress. Well, the Beijing event has started a bit earlier than the one in Barcelona, and Xiaomi has already unveiled a smartphone, though it’s not the Mi 5, but the Mi 4S which was rumored to be announced hours before the event, read on.
The Xiaomi Mi 4S follows the lead of Mi 4C and Mi 4i handsets which were introduced last year. Both of those phones were quite capable, and the Mi 4S is actually quite similar to the Mi 4C in terms of specs, though its design is quite different. The Xiaomi Mi 4C features a 5-inch fullHD (1920 x 1080, 441ppi) display, along with 3GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable internal storage. This smartphone is fueled by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 808 64-bit hexa-core processor, which ships with an Adreno 418 GPU. The Mi 4S comes with 4G LTE (with VoLTE) support, and packs in a 3,260mAh non-removable battery. This device is made out of metal and glass, and it sports a rear-facing fingerprint scanner. Both its power / lock and volume rocker physical keys are placed on the right-hand side of the device, and you’ll notice a camera and a dual-LED, dual tone flash on the back. Speaking of which, the Mi 4S features a 13-megapixel (PDAF) camera on the back, while there’s a 5-megapixel snapper available up front. This is a dual-SIM smartphone, and it will ship with Android 6.0 Marshmallow pre-installed, and Xiaomi’s MIUI 7 OS available on top of it. Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 2.0 fast charging is also a part of this package, and there’s also an infrared sensor on the top side of the device. The USB Type-C is also available here, it is located on the bottom of this smartphone.
The Xiaomi Mi 4S can be considered mid to high-end smartphone, and it comes in Black, White and Gold color options. The device is actually quite affordable, at least if we consider its specifications. The Xiaomi Mi 4C is priced at 1,699 Yuan ($260) in China, and it will be available for purchase starting March 1st, in case you’re interested. It remains to be seen if Xiaomi intends on announcing this smartphone in Barcelona as well, we’ll keep you updated.
