Twitter has been through some rough times over the past year, having some reshuffling going on inside of the company in regards to the executive staff as well as with the way Twitter operates and handles various things like engagement. While Twitter has already started implementing new ways to bring back users as of last year, they still ended up with a less than desirable earnings set for the 2015 fiscal year and fourth quarter of 2015. In light of all this, Twitter has admitted to a known issue with the service in the letter to investors and they aim to correct it going forward.
To be clear, there have been a number of reasons for Twitter losing users, but the most recent enlightenment comes at the acknowledgement that certain interactions on Twitter are confusing to them, and Twitter wants to make these interactions simpler so that users are eager to continue engaging with their followers, thus resulting in more engagement for Twitter themselves. Essentially, Twitter's recent revelation revolves around the difficulty of conversation on the social platform. Quite simply put, having a conversation with other users on Twitter is difficult and needs to be fixed. How Twitter exactly goes about doing that is still unclear, but at least they're willing to acknowledge to investors and to the public that they need to simplfy this crucial element.
In addition to improving the ability to converse with other users, Twitter always wants to make sure it improves its best asset, the timeline, as this is the fundamental part of Twitter that makes it Twitter. To that end, Twitter is going to continue improving the timeline to make sure that users always get to see the very best tweets for their own personal feed. Again, this is another element which Twitter didn't yet express how they'll implement the change, but it's still important that it's on the way as maybe it'll reassure investors as well as perhaps some users who may be losing interest just because of the timeline alone. On top of these changes Twitter also wants to make it faster to send off a tweet and they want users to be able to express themselves with photos, video, and text more easily than before. There's no exact time frame for when the changes and improvements take place, or what they'll be, but loyal Twitter users should definitely look out for them if they feel these things needed to be addressed.
