MWC 2016 Round Up Day 2: Alcatel, Sony, Acer, ZTE & More

It’s day 2 in Barcelona, although it’s technically day one of Mobile World Congress. Today, the show floor opened up to the media to check out all of the new products announced and being shown off this week in Barcelona, Spain. Even though Sunday was full of press conferences and announcements, there were still plenty of announcements left for today, which kicked off with Sony having their press conference bright and early this morning.

We saw new smartphone announcements from companies like Alcatel, Haier, Sony, Acer, ZTE, and even Obi (which some consumers probably have never heard of before). Sony introduced a brand new line of Xperia smartphones in their Xperia X line. Which includes a couple of smartphones that are rather mid-range, but the Xperia X Performance is a higher-end smartphone sporting a Snapdragon 820. All of which sport 5-inch displays, a trend we’ve been seeing a lot this week in Barcelona. Smartphone screen sizes getting smaller, after they were getting larger and larger. There was also a tablet announced today, just one. It’s from Panasonic and it’s the Toughpad FZ-N1 and it runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow, it’s not really a tablet – in most people’s opinion – since it does have a 4.7-inch display, however Panasonic believes it’s a tablet due to the small niche market it’s targeted at.

That’s just a small portion of what happened in Barcelona on day 2. In case you missed any of the action, we’ve got everything linked for you. Including more on the Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge and LG G5 which were all announced on Sunday.
