Google’s Chromecast helped to make streaming media and other kinds of content from smartphones and tablets a much simpler process and one that didn’t cost consumers a whole lot of money to get started with. While this is all well and good not all Android devices users have the ability to take advantage of the Chromecast or streaming content to a Google Cast-ready device, because you need Google Play Services installed on your device for that compatibility to work. For anyone who can’t cast to the tiny little Chromecast dongle, there is now a workaround to get the technology working thanks to an application called BubbleUPnP.
Through the application’s latest update, the developers behind it (the Bubblesoft team) have added support for Google Cast devices on phones and tablets that don’t have Play Services installed. This means that Chinese smartphones and tablets, Amazon’s Fire devices based on Android, and any other Android devices which don’t have Play Services installed can simply download BubbleUPnP and stream to Chromecast or an Android TV device without much effort. The really great thing about this is that the application is free, meaning your only real cost to get going and start casting is the hardware, in this case a Chromecast or another Google Cast product.
Whether it’s the Chromecast itself or an Android TV device, or even the Chromecast Audio dongle, this app will allow you to stream to whatever device you have that works on the Google Cast technology so you can enjoy whatever it is you’re trying to stream. Some other added benefits include the ability to stream content to other devices too, like the Amazon Fire TV and Amazon Fire TV Stick, DLNA TVs and other DLNA products, and even the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 consoles. If you have any supported devices that BubbleUPnP can stream to, then all you need to do is make sure the content you want to stream is on the device you’re streaming from, but also that the content be it a movie, a TV show, or music, has to be in a file format that the target device you’re streaming to supports, as BubbleUPnP does not have transcoding.Download BubbleUPnP
