AT&T Is Offering Second Month Of GoPhone Free For Switchers

There was a time when postpaid plans were king, but those times are over and prepaid plan services have become increasingly more popular over the last few years. Carriers like AT&T still have more postpaid customers than prepaid, but with the arrival of more and more low-cost and affordable unlocked handsets like the Moto G and Moto E, and even the Moto X, there is more of a reason to buy an unlocked device and opt for something like AT&T's GoPhone service. No matter what phone you pick up or already have, if it's unlocked and can switch over to an AT&T GoPhone plan, they're giving people who switch from another service some incentive by offering up a deal on the monthly plan.

For those who switch from a competing service and port over their eligible phone number to an AT&T GoPhone plan, AT&T will end up offering the second month of the GoPhone plan for free. There are some caveats that people will need to know about aside from porting over the number to a GoPhone plan, one of which is that customers will need to activate either the $45 or $60 GoPhone plan and make sure at least those amounts corresponding to the plan they're on is inside of their account. Upon completing those tasks, AT&T will set customers up to have their second month renewed at no cost.

It's also worth noting that the "free" month is only for up to a $60 value, so if you have services tacked onto your GoPhone plan beyond that amount, you'll still end up having to pay for that portion. The free month of service is also compatible with the monthly savings customers can receive if they set their account up to autopay, which saves them $5 off the regular plan cost. Other important details that customers will need to know about is that AT&T is only offering this promotion through March 31st, so you'll want to get in there before then if you plan on switching over. If you switch, you'll also need to make sure the required funds to be eligible for the free month are in the account within 26 days of activating the GoPhone service.
