OnePlus X Ceramic Edition Listed On Amazon India At $345

OnePlus announced the Zirconia Ceramic edition of its mid-range smartphone, the OnePlus X, back in November last year. Now, the device finally comes to India, and has been listed on Amazon at Rs. 22,999 ($345), which is a significant premium to the standard Onyx Black version that carries a price-tag of $16,999 ($260). While the internals remain the same, the premium version of the OnePlus X comes with a higher price-tag apparently because of higher input costs on account of the Zirconia that is said to be imported from mines in Australia. OnePlus says that only 10,000 units of the Ceramic edition will ever be made, and that it will only be available for purchase in Europe and Hong Kong, alongside India.

For those interested in this particular version, the thing to note is that you'll be needing a specific invite for the Ceramic OnePlus X. A regular invite for the Onyx Black version will not get you the newly-launched variant. Since the launch of the Ceramic OnePlus X, the Shenzhen, Guangdong-based company has gone on a marketing offensive, including making the device go invite-free on every Tuesday. The Ceramic edition was also made available invite-free at select French Connection stores in India last week. The company even auctioned off five units of the handset for charity back in late November, to help an NGO called 'Charity: Water'. As evident from the name, the organization aims to provide clean drinking water to people living in remote regions in some of the poorer areas of the world.

Coming to the OnePlus X, the device is the company's first-ever mid-range handset, and features a 5-inch AMOLED display with a 1080p resolution. The smartphone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 SoC, and comes with 3 GB of RAM and 16 GB of storage out of the box. The OnePlus X sports a 13-megapixel rear-facing primary camera and an 8-megapixel front-facing selfie-cam. Sensors on the OnePlus X include a fingerprint scanner, an accelerometer, a gyroscope and a proximity sensor along with A-GPS and GLONASS, while connectivity options include LTE, HSPA, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi hotspot and Bluetooth v4.0. The phone sports a 2,525 mAh Lithium Polymer battery and comes with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop pre-installed, in the form of Oxygen OS 2.0.
