Honor 5X Confirmed On Sale January 31st For $199.99


Huawei had great year, last year. As well as bringing to market the flagship Nexus device, the Nexus 6P, the company also launched one of the most popular smartwatches, the Huawei Watch. That is, as well as the company seeing smartphone sales surpassing the 100 million marker for the year. In fact the latest data from IDC stated the figure was more towards 107 million. That said, the company's sub-brand, Honor has also been making big waves in certain regions and is set to make waves in the U.S. in the coming days with the launch of the Honor 5X.

Honor has today officially confirmed that their Honor 5X smartphone will go on sale in the U.S from January 31st, this Sunday. The launch date had already been reported on a couple of weeks ago during CES, although the company has today made the launch date official, declaring the Honor 5X will be available to buy through Honor's own website, Amazon and Newegg from January 31st. The launch price is the already confirmed $199.99 price, which does make the Honor 5X a compelling option for those looking for a decent built smartphone which makes use of a diamond-polished aluminum alloy casing, as well as some pretty decent specs.


If you need a reminder on what the specs on offer are, the Honor 5X comes boasting a 5.5-inch display which makes use of a 1920 x 1080 resolution. Inside, the Honor 5X comes equipped with 2GB RAM and comes powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 octa-core processor (clocking at 1.5 GHz). Storage is set at 16GB internally and there is the option to expand thanks to the inclusion of a microSD card slot. In terms of cameras, the Honor 5X comes loaded with a 13-megapixel rear camera, which is coupled with a 5-megapixel front facing camera. Additional features include a fingerprint scanner (with a 0.5 second unlocking time), as well as a 3,000 mAh battery powering the device. In terms of color options, Honor has also confirmed the Honor 5X will be available in gold, silver and grey colors. Last but not least, the Honor 5X comes running on Android 5.1 (Lollipop) out of the box, along with an EMUI skin over the top.
