Google Lowers Price of Nexus 5X by $60 CAD

In the world of Android, one of the most exciting events each year is when the new Nexus smartphone is introduced.  This year we were treated to two versions – the higher end Nexus 6P manufactured by Huawei and a more modest version by LG…the Nexus 5X.  Both devices received high accolades and have enjoyed brisk sales. The Nexus followers are to Android what iPhone users are to Apple – devote followers with a love of their respective devices and seeking the pure software experience.  Nothing could make Nexus users happier than a price cut and it seems like that is exactly what Google is providing us with – first in the US market and now in the Canadian Google Store as well – for the Nexus 5X.

Previously, the Nexus 5X cost $499 for the 16GB model it will now run you only $439…the $559 32GB model is reduced to $499 – the only two configurations available in this model.  All three colors – Carbon Black, Quartz White and Ice Blue – and all configurations are in stock and ready for the usual two-business day shipping.  So far, there has been no budging on the price of the higher end Nexus 6P, which remains at $699 for the 32GB model, $749 for 64GB and $849 for the 128GB model…but one can hope that Google will adjust that pricing as well.

For the price, the Nexus 5X gives you a lot of bang for the buck.  It sports a 5.2-inch Full HD IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and 423 pixels-per-inch (PPI).  LG picked the Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 hexa-core processor with four cores running at 1.44 GHZ and two cores running at 1.82 GHz for its brains.  The 5X packs 2GB of RAM and either 16GB or 32GB of internal storage with no means to expand that memory.  It also sports a terrific 12.3MP main camera with laser autofocus, dual-tone LED flash, large 1.55µm pixel size and a large aperture of f/2.0.  The front-facing camera (FFC) is 5MP for taking selfies and video chatting.  A fingerprint sensor is included that will verify you with Android Pay mobile payments and other retailers with its NFC capabilities.  A 2700 mAh non-removable battery provides power.
