Xiaomi Mi 5 has been one of the most frequently devices in the last couple of weeks. This handset was expected to launch a couple of weeks back, but Xiaomi opted to wait for the Snapdragon 820 SoC to become available, or so it seems. The company's CEO has already said that he has been using this phone for quite some time now, and that it's definitely 'worth waiting for'. Well, the wait might be over soon as the Mi 5 is expected to be announced next month, January 21st has been mentioned as the possible announcement date. That being said, we've seen a number of Mi 5 rumors and leaks in the last couple of weeks, and some new ones have surfaced recently, read on.
The Xiaomi Mi 5 images have surfaced a couple of times now, and interestingly enough, the device sports a physical home button in every single one of them. Well, a new leak from China more or less reports the same thing, if you take a look at the first image in the gallery down below, you'll get to see the alleged front panel of Xiaomi's upcoming flagship. As you can see in the image, the cutout for the physical home button / touchpad is located at the very bottom of it. This is not the only piece of info we've stumbled upon, a listing has popped up more or less confirming that the Mi 5 will feature NFC. Now, Xiaomi has already included NFC in Mi 3 and MI 2A, but only about 1% of users actually used the function, so Xiaomi hasn't used it since. Well, it seems like the Mi 5 might sport NFC after all, which is interesting. This listing actually comes from China UnionPay, and lists 32 devices which will offer 'Cloud Lightening Pay' payment service.
Now, in addition to everything we've mentioned, a new set of Mi 5 specs leaked as well. According to the info, the Mi 5 will be powered by the Snapdragon 820 64-bit quad-core processor, and will sport a 5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display. The device is expected to ship out with 4GB of RAM and 16 or 64GB of internal storage. The Mi 5 will sport two SIM card slots on the inside, and interesting enough, the Rose Gold color option will be available to consumers. Now, you can also expect this smartphone to be made out of metal, and previous leaks mentioned that it will sport a 21-megapixel camera and a fingerprint scanner as well.
