We're in to the twelfth and final month of the year, which inevitably means that the roundups, the closing remarks and bests lists will be hitting the web from all over the place. While some of these can be a little tiresome, it is nice to take a look back at the year that was, and it's always surprising just what the Human race got up to over the course of 12 months. YouTube is one area of the web that has always done well at celebrating the previous year, with big montage videos and such. This year, they're asking people to vote for their favorite ads of the year, which is interesting considering people love to complain about ads on YouTube, and YouTube Red is trying to do away with them for a lot of people.
YouTube have set up a special website that splits a number of ads into difference categories. These include ads that "You Wish You Were In", "That Restore Your Faith in Humanity", "That is Your Guilty Pleasure", "That Gives You Feels" and finally ads that "Get You Going". There are five ads shortlisted in the five categories, making up a total of 25 ads for people to cast their vote for. Highlights of these ads include the popular Always campaign #LikeAGirl, motivational ads from Nike and adidas as well as more lighthearted ads from BuzzFeed and one of Android's #BetterTogether ads managed to sneak in as well.
To take a look at the full list and cast your vote, just head on over to the YouTube page here. Voting ends today, so make sure that you get in quick. While ads are something a lot of people love to rail on, be them online or in-between programs or before a movie, they have undeniably shaped the modern world. Besides, advertizing has changed a lot over the past couple of years, and they're more often than not about an idea and a feeling, rather than the product or brand itself. This has made ads a little more interesting to watch and some might say enjoyable.
