Rumor: Huawei Preparing Enjoy 5S Smartphone

Huawei have been in and out of the headlines for much of the year, which appears to be very much a part of their charm offensive in order to push into those markets that the Chinese business has barely touched. We've seen the beautiful Huawei Watch, the Nexus 6P and HiSilicon announce a new chipset, the Kirin 950, which has been well received by the industry. Huawei build many different devices and the Mate 8 has been capturing headlines in the last few weeks, but today the business took to Chinese social website, Weibo, in order to tease what may be their next product to launch: the mid-range Huawei Enjoy 5S.

At the moment, we only have limited information but it appears that the Enjoy 5S will be officially announced this Thursday the 3 December. We believe the Enjoy 5S will be a metal, premium-built device and it'll come with two SIM slots and a MicroSD card slot. Many devices come with two SIM slots and one may alternatively be used as a MicroSD slot instead - but it appears Huawei have listened to customer feedback and are releasing a device that allows customers to use both SIM slots and a memory card. The chipset is rumored to be the Kirin 935, backed up by 3 GB of RAM. The Kirin 935 consists of eight ARM Cortex-A53 application cores arranged in two clusters. The lower performance cluster has a maximum clock speed of 1.5 GHz and the higher performance cluster may be clocked at up to 2.2 GHz. There's a 13MP main camera at the back and a 8MP front facing unit for video calling and selfies. The screen is said to be a 5.2-inch, 1080p unit and internal storage is reputed to be an encouraging 64 GB. We've no word on the battery capacity but the original Huawei Enjoy came with a small tablet-matching 4,000 mAh.

If the rumored specifications prove accurate, the Enjoy 5S will join a burgeoning mid-range market, featuring a capable chipset with plenty of memory, an FHD display in the 5-inch category, and respectable sounding camera credentials. Even if the device is launched on Thursday, we don't know the market availability or pricing, which are important for mid-range models. This is a developing story and we will let you know should Huawei unveil their new generation Enjoy handset.
