Google and Apple compete head to head in a few areas, not just Android vs iOS anymore. But both companies do release their "Best of …" lists every year, which promote the best apps and games of the year. Google released theirs a few weeks ago, and surprisingly there are three apps on the list for both Google and Apple's "Best of 2015". It's an already an honor for a developer to get named by either Apple or Google as "Best of 2015" but to get the honor from both companies in the same year, is pretty spectacular.
The first app is called Robinhood. It's a pretty basic app (although the user interface looks fantastic on both platforms, speaking of which Robinhood won an Apple Design Award for its UI), what it does is something simple. No-fee stock trading. Robinhood includes the ability to make trading cheap, intuitive and mobile. Something we can all appreciate in our busy lives.
Up second is Jet. Now this app is a shopping platform, aiming to be like Amazon, but obviously that's a long way off for them at this point. The company calls themselves "the ultimate shopping hack". It includes the ability to reorder items easily, also includes free shipping as well as returns. It's a pretty simple app that can become a pretty popular service real soon.
Last but not least, we have HBO's HBO Now. This is the company's stand-alone app, allowing you to pay for just HBO (instead of having to subscribe through your Cable or satellite provider). The app allows you to watch all of their programs straight onto your mobile device. So you can watch the latest episode of Game of Thrones or Ballers without needing to find a TV. What's even better is that HBO Now is included in T-Mobile's Binge On service, so you won't even need to worry about data usage.
So there you have it, three great apps that are available on both iOS and Android and were named the "Best of 2015". Definitely all deserving of being named the best of the year. You can find them all on the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store.
