Smartphone cameras have never been as good as they are today, and while it's easier than ever to take a great photo, we still want more. Regardless, our smartphones have been powerful enough to manipulate photos to a high standard for years now. A lot of you may have gotten a new smartphone or tablet recently and might be looking for some photo apps. Regardless of whether or not you just got an Android device or have been around the block a few times, we have a little something for everyone in our list of Top 10 Photo Filter & Effects Apps for Android.


Filter apps get something of a bad name for whatever reason, but Lenka is a classier alternative. For the discerning shooter that misses the days of being able to shoot in proper black and white, Lenka brings that focus back. This is an app for the type of user that really wants to make sure their photos look realistic and not fake in any way. With realistic lens blur, precise adjustments of effects and filters, this is the app to make a photo look really sharp. While it has all the filters that the majority of users are looking for, there are some extra features that the more demanding users will be asking for as well.

EyeEm is an app for aspiring photographers to help them perfect their style, to experiment with different colors and looks and even get discovered by someone. With EyeEm users can sell their work and get paid from within the app and there are all sorts of different tools that can be used to tweak composition and other aspects of your shots, too.


Pomelo is an app that's all about the filters, and it comes with 13 real-time filters that look great when you're lining up shots. Beyond that however, there are loads more filters and they can be slightly adjusted or mixed together with other filter sets out there to produce a completely unique look, which will certainly put a smile on people's faces. An app that claims to be great for Instagram, Pomelo has just got a fresh new look and it sure looks the part.

MIX by Camera360

MIX by Camera360 is an app that can allow users to create their own sort of filters. VSCO is an app that is perhaps the Instagram for professionals. It has all sorts of presets included that channel classic 35mm film color, rather than grainy messed up color effects that are entirely over-the-top. It's a great app for those that want something that looks and feels authentic by the end of it and for the discerning individual, VSCO will definitely get the job done.
