Black Friday is the name given to one of the biggest, if not the biggest, sales days in the North American calendar. It has become something of a modern day tradition with retailers across the United Kingdom and Europe catching the discounting bug and promoting their offers for the day – which is rapidly approaching, at the end of this week. When it comes to mobile devices – smartphones and tablets – it seems that yet again these devices are in high demand. Today, one of the two largest North American national carriers, Verizon Wireless, have announced at least some of their Black Friday offers. Verizon are discounting several flagship smartphones.
The largest discounts amount to $500 off three devices, these being the Samsung Galaxy S6, Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge and Motorola DROID Turbo 2. The discount includes $300 for switching to Verizon from a competitor network and a $200 Black Friday discount, and reduces the monthly cost of the S6 to $3.16, the S6 Edge to $7.16 and the Motorola DROID Turbo 2 is down to $5.16, all for twenty four months. Verizon is also offering $400 off the LG V10 (down to $11.33 a month), Samsung Galaxy Note 5 (to $12.33 a month) and the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ (to $15.33 a month), again all for a twenty four month contract and here the discount consists of the $300 switching to Verizon discount plus $100 knocked off for Black Friday. However, in order to qualify for the maximum discount, customers will need to be trading in a smartphone with the maximum value, but for those potential customers who have been considering switching to Verizon Wireless, the additional $100 or $200 look tempting.
Verizon have other offers, too, including their own-branded Ellipsis 10 tablet, which has $150 off and will cost $49.99 with a two year activation. The Ellipsis 8 tablet is also down to $49.99, $30 off and includes a $25 Google Play credit. The Fitbit Charge has $40 knocked off and is down to $89.99. Verizon has sliced $50 off the Parrot AR Drone 2.0 Elite Edition, finished in Snow, the UE Megaboom and the Beats Solo2, all down to $249.99. The Bose SoundLink Color has $10 off, down to $119.99, with Google’s Nest Cam $30 cheaper at $169.99. Finally, there are two Mophie Powerstation products with money reduced: the Powerstation Plus 8x has $50 off and is down to $99.99 and the Powerstation 4000 has been halved in price, down from $79.99 to $39.99. Again, if customers were thinking about picking one of these accessories up – perhaps as a Christmas gift – this Friday could be a great opportunity.
