Spotify's New Feature Alerts You To Live Concerts In Your Area

Who doesn't love going to a live show and witnessing their favorite bands perform? Watching live shows are a blast whether it's a band you've been waiting to come in your area or discovering a new artist at a weekend gig. Spotify, one of the biggest services for streaming music on the web is now adding a brand new feature to their client. The latest feature will showcase a number of different bands and artists that are playing in your area. Better yet, Spotify won't show every band that's coming towards your hometown but the live events it knows you would personally enjoy.

Spotify is a fantastic service to join in for free. Consumers are able to listen through most catalogs of every band out there and for musicians it's a great way to help spread their name. While the service allows consumers to play any song of their choosing for free, the service does a pretty remarkable job at showing listeners tracks and artists that are similar to other bands or song of a Spotify user's choosing. However, a new feature is being implemented to Spotify that will allow users to get notified if their favorite artists or similar sounding bands will be playing live in their area. This new algorithm comes through a partnership with Songkick.

Songkick is an online service that allows consumers to track down their favorite artists and discover just when they may be rolling into their area. Additionally, the service showcases all of the ticket prices that can be found online for the event. For instance, a user can see the ticket prices for vendors such as Ticketmaster, Viagogo, StubHub!, and TicketNetwork in one place. While other tidbits of information are tossed into the web page such as the venue location, its capacity, and the duration of how long tickets are available for purchase. As mentioned, Spotify and Songkick have partnered up to allow consumers a means of accessing local concert information right within the Spotify client and application. For users to access this new feature they will have to go under the Discover tab and select Concerts. Spotify will then decide what live shows to display from the musicians a user is listening to. From there, users can select a show where Spotify will then open up the corresponding Songkick web page.
