Opera Refreshes App Icon Alongside New Feature Additions

Google's Chrome browser may be pre-installed on nearly every single Android device, but it is far from being the only available browser to meet the needs of users. Opera, for example, has two available browsers on the Play Store which both offer some unique features and benefits you likely won't find with other options, and as of today Opera has announced they've made the apps even better in the latest app update which includes some new features and optimization tweaks, and a newly refreshed app icon to go along with each app's changes. Those who are already using either Opera Mini for Android or Opera Browser for Android will notice the new icon once they go to update the app.

Opera's Browser for Android offering is geared towards those who want a full featured browser experience on their Android device. Following this new update, this version of the app introduces the ability for the browser to compress videos so as not to have them eat up as much data when processing the stream. This of course only affects those who stream videos on their network connection and not on WiFi. In addition to the video compression functionality, Opera Browser for Android will also be introducing what Opera is calling "installable web apps" essentially giving the user a web app type of feel to the experience when they add web pages to the homescreen from within the Opera browser.

When it comes to Opera Mini, one of the big headlining improvements will be the better experience with switching between tabs. Following the new update today, users will see a much more streamlined and efficient way to browse with multiple tabs. Opera Mini will allow users to surf the web and when a new tab is opened up, it opens up in the background behind the page they're already on so it doesn't disturb what they're already doing. When they're ready to switch tabs the act of doing so is now faster and more seamless. Lastly, when uses initiate downloads in Opera Mini, notifications now pop up alerting users that the downloads have been completed so they can get to them when they need to. As stated above both apps also come with brand new app icons featuring the new Opera "O" logo.
