In 2013, T-Mobile bought MetroPCS, and roughly added about 9 million customers in the process. The reason for this was three-fold actually. One was for the extra customers, helping bolster their market share, under newly appointed CEO John Legere. The other was the spectrum that MetroPCS had, and finally to bolster their prepaid offerings. T-Mobile still operates MetroPCS as their own brand, and as their "flagship prepaid brand". However, while some features announced by the Uncarrier like Music Freedom and BingeOn, don't come to MetroPCS, they still have some amazing prices for what they offer. But that changes today.
On Monday, MetroPCS announced that they are bringing 'Music Unlimited' to their customers, allowing their data to go even further. They are adding 1GB of data to their most popular plans as well as an extra 2GB for the mobile hotspot that is included in their unlimited plan. That means you'll get 8GB of tethering data instead of 6GB.
With Music Unlimited, users will be able to stream as much music as they want from over 33 streaming services, without it counting against their data. MetroPCS also announced Data Maximizer which allows customers to watch up to three times more streaming video than before. Not quite the same as BingeOn, but it does still help your data stretch even further, and we can't really complain about that, right? All of this is being added for current customers at the same price.
That's not all, though. MetroPCS is also changing up their family plans (these include 2 lines or more). So the $25/month plan includes unlimited talk, text, data with 1GB of high-speed data and data maximizer. The $35/month plan includes unlimited talk, text, data, 3GB of high-speed data along with Music Unlimited and Data Maximizer. Their $45/month plan brings you 5GB of high-speed data, along with Music Unlimited and Data Maximizer. Finally, their $55/month plan brings you unlimited talk, text and 4G LTE data along with 8GB of mobile hotspot tethering for each line, along with Music Unlimited and Data Maximizer.
MetroPCS does state that single lines will be $5 more per month. But of course you can switch up plans pretty easily with MetroPCS. Customers can also use their high-speed data for Mobile Hotspot tethering at no extra charge. All of this starts on November 19th.
