Gionee hasn’t exactly announce a ton of devices this year, but they did announce a handful of interesting ones. The company has recently unveiled the Elife S Plus mid-ranger, and the 6-inch Gionee GN8001 has surfaced on TENAA (China’s equivalent to the FCC) as well. That being said, this China-based smartphone OEM has decided to announce yet another smartphone in China, the Gionee S6 which was launched quite recently, read on.
The Gionee S6 is an upper mid-range smartphone by the company. This device sports a 5.5-inch 720p (1280 x 720) AMOLED display, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD card up to 128GB). This smartphone is powered by MediaTek’s MT6753 64-bit octa-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz along with a Mali-T720 GPU for graphics. The 13-megapixel shooter is located on the back of this phone, and a 5-megapixel snapper can be found up front. The 3,150mAh battery is also a part of this package, and you do get dual-SIM connectivity as well (hybrid dual-SIM). Android 5.1.1 Lollipop comes pre-installed here with Gionee’s AMIGO OS 3.1. The phone measures 151.9 x 74.6 x 4-6.9mm, while it weighs 147 grams.
The Gionee S6 is made out of metal, as you can see in the provided image. The phone sports three capacitive buttons below the display, overview, home and back, respectively. Both the power / lock and volume rocker buttons can be found on the right-hand side of this smartphone, and the device seems to have really thin side bezels, but you can expect to see some black bars on the sides, at least it seems like it. Either way, we won’t be able to confirm this until a lighter image is loaded on the device. Looking at the left side of this phone, you’ll notice the SIM card tray, and that’s basically it. Now, the Gionee S6 will be available in Gold and Platinum color options, and the device will be available in China starting from November 22nd. The Gionee S6 is priced at 1,699 Yuan, which comes around to $266. We still don’t know if Gionee intends to sell this smartphone outside of China, stay tuned, we’ll keep you posted.
