First Post-Launch Huawei Mate 8 Hands-On Images Surface

Huawei Mate 8 hands on China 4

As promised, Huawei has held a press conference in China earlier today. The company has finally announced the long-rumored Mate 8 phablet, and along with that handset, they’ve released the Huawei Watch to the Chinese market. The Huawei Mate 8 is Huawei’s flagship phablet which is made out of metal, and sports a really sleek design overall. We’ve already covered the main announcement of this handset, and we do have some additional content on our site as well. That being said, the first hands-on images have started popping up in China, so let’s check out this phablet up close and personal, shall we.

Now, if you take a look at the gallery down below, you’ll see quite a few Huawei Mate 8 hands-on images. The phone has been pictured from pretty much every side, and these images are, of course, far more life-like than official renders are. The Huawei Mate 8 sports really thin bezels all around, but the phone does have some black bars around the display, which are fairly thin as well. The all-around design of this phablet is very sleek, and as you can see, both its power / lock and volume rocker buttons are located on the right-hand side of this phablet. The fingerprint scanner is also a part of this package, and it’s located on the back of the Mate 8. The rear-facing camera does protrude a bit on the back, but that was to be expected considering the fact that this device is quite thin.

The Huawei Mate 8 sports a 6-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display along with 3/4GB of RAM and 32/64/128GB of expandable internal storage. The phablet is powered by the Kirin 950 64-bit octa-core SoC, and a 4,000mAh battery is also a part of this package. The 16-megapixel OIS camera is available on the back of the Mate 8, and an 8-megapixel snapper can be found up front. Android 6.0 Marshmallow comes pre-installed on the device with Huawei’s EMUI (Emotion UI) 4.0 skin on top of it. The Mate 8 is a dual-SIM handset (2 x Nano SIM) and offers 4G LTE connectivity, of course. The phablet will become available in China in Q1 2016 in Champagne Gold, Moonlight Silver, Space Gray and Mocha Brown color options.
