Featured: Top 10 Best Flight Tracking Apps for Android

Tracking a flight can be pretty fun. Seeing where your aircraft is before it is supposed to carry you to your destination, or finding out when the aircraft that your loved one is on, is actually at. There are plenty of apps that can be used for tracking flights, both from the airline, and just in general. Let's check out ten of them here.

Now this app likely gives you much more information than you will ever actually need. You can search for a flight for today, tomorrow, yesterday or even last week. You can also see the 7-day average for departure and arrival times for that flight. Helpful to figure out if your flight will leave on time, or close to on time. You can also track it on a map and see exactly where it is.

FlightStats pretty much gives you the same information as FlightAware. However, you can see a bit more information, especially in terms of the airport, including the terminal and gate number that it will be coming in at. Additionally you can look at the history and see if that particular flight is usually late, or if it's almost always on time. As well as tracking it across the world on their flight tracking map.

Now, Flightradar24 is available in both a free and paid version, with the paid version costing just $3.99. It can track flights in real time, and what's even cooler, is the fact that you can point your phone towards the sky and see what plane that is flying over your head using the app. You can also sort by airport and see what planes are on their way to a specific airport.

If you're flying on Delta, or have someone flying in on Delta, then the FlyDelta app is the best app to use for tracking that flight. They typically have more up to date information (especially on delays) than some of these other apps. You can also view flight schedules from inside the app. Making it easier to see how often and at what times, Delta flies between two cities.

American Airlines

Similar to the FlyDelta app above, if you are waiting on an American Airlines plane, this is a great app to use to find the status of that flight. Simply go into Flight Status and enter the flight number and it'll get you the status pretty quickly. Of course, with the American Airlines app you can also view your reservation, book flights and so much more.

TripIt isn't so much a flight tracker, but it does keep all of the parts of your itinerary together, and can keep you updated on what's going on with your flight. So if it's delayed, it will send you a message through your smartphone or tablet. Very convenient, especially if you're rushing to the airport, because you're late.

Airport + Flight Tracker Radar

This is a bit of a different app. It will track flights at over 2500 airports around the world, give you live departure and arrival boards. As well as terminal maps for many of these airports. Definitely a helpful thing when you are trying to get to a connecting flight and don't have a whole lot of time. It shows you where there are restaurants, shops and restrooms as well.

United Airlines

United is one of the top three airlines here in the US, and their app also allows you to track flights that are inbound, and see if your flight will indeed arrive on time. Also see if it will depart on time, and perhaps arrive early to its destination. Additionally, you can book your flights through the app as well as view and edit your reservations, as you'd expect.

FlightView Free Flight Tracker

Similar to many of the others here on this list, FlightView Free Flight Tracker allows you to track just about any flight, anywhere in the world. Whether it's in the US, the UK, Mexico or anywhere else. You can also check airports to see if there are any delays with air traffic control, usually due to weather or congestion. To help figure out if the flight will arrive on time or be late.

Flight Tracker

Simple name here. Flight Tracker has terminal maps for many airports in the US. It also shows the estimated arrival time of flights as well as the scheduled arrival time. You can also see what the weather is like at the destination, to see if you will need a jacket or not. Which does happen from time to time.
