$6 Free Play Store Credit For Chromecast & Android TV Owners

Google is known for often quietly switching on deals and promotions without making any sort of formal announcement and it looks like one has just gone live. The deal is simple, a free $6 credit which can be used to purchase anything from the Play Store, apps, movies, songs and so on. So it is a rather nice freebie. Nothing too grand but nothing to be sniffed at either. The deal is part of their Chromecast special offers and so if you know how to access these offers, then heading over to the page now, should show you the latest offer. This was actually a deal Google first made available back in February for Valentine's Day, although, it seems to have suddenly popped back up again under the guise of "Purchase 2 Chromecasts and get $12 in Play Credit". To be clear, you don't need to purchase a new one as older devices are seeing the offer and you can claim the offer even if you have only one Chromecast. In fact, the deal seems to be good for as many Chromecasts as you have with $6 being offer for each one.

If you are unfamiliar with how to see what offers you have, then here are the instructions. You will need to have your Chromecast connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your computer. Your Chromecast also needs to be on. You will also need to make sure that you have the Chrome browser installed on your desktop and the Google Cast extension enabled. This is the extension which lets you cast your web browser page to your Chromecast. If you do not have the extension installed, you can get it by clicking here. Once the extension has been enabled, open a new Chrome browser (must be done from desktop Chrome) head over to the Chromecast offers page. Agree to the terms and once you hit "Continue", you should see a small blue "Select Your Device" button. Hitting this will activate the Google Cast extension and you should see the name of your device appear in the top right hand corner of your Chrome browser. Click on your device and the new offer will appear (along with any other offers you are entitled to).

Here is the kicker though. It currently seems to be working with all Android TV devices as well. To clarify, not just the Nexus Player, but third party Android TV devices like the NVIDIA SHIELD too. So if you have any Android TV device or any Chromecast (new or old) then the deal should be available to you. Although, it is worth noting that the deal listing does state that this is a "limited time offer", so you might want to grab your free $6 credit sooner rather than later.
